What Started As A Problem, Became a Solution!
In February of 2018, Gladdy’s parents left the Vet Emergency Room with some grim news that Gladys, their Dachshund, now had acute pancreatitis and it would remain with her the rest of her life if she survives. The cause was a bag of treats laced with anti-freeze and high in fat content. Luckily she did and that meant a completely new diet, which also involved no treats.
Gladys wouldn’t accept that and he knew how bad she’d beg for some so her daddy said that wasn’t an option. He talked to the vet who gave a very strict list of what the treat must not contain. After getting Gladys home they started to look for treats that met the vets list of treats suitable for her but were unable to find any.
The solution! Her dad got in the kitchen and made some. He searched the stores for meats that have never been processed like most meats are that you get in the super market. They are injected with salt waters and other chemicals to make it look aesthetically pleasing .It wasn’t easy but he managed to find meats without processing that come direct from farms and not processing warehouses .In addition the meats come in at 3% fat or lower which is also to the vet’s specification.
The treats were such a hit, he started to give them to other dogs and before you knew it Gladdy’s Goodies was born.
