We adopted Buttons in the summer of 2000 so that December was our first Christmas with her. We purchased her the largest stocking we could find because it fit her personality and we couldn’t wait to stuff it full of goodies for her.
Closer to Christmas we went shopping and we got her lots of treats and toys to play with. We stuffed them in the stocking and went to bed.
That night we heard her woofing constantly. There was nothing outside, and nobody was knocking on the door. We had no idea what she was woofing at. So we went back to bed when she stopped barking and tried to sleep again.
An hour or two later she started barking again! So we went down stairs to the living room where she was and realized she knew that stocking was hers and she wanted the stuff! We knew then how smart she really was.
We hid the stocking till Christmas Eve and never heard a woof out of her again.
